Last Update: November 17, Email Address. Account Sign In. I'd characterize it as a beginning photography book, using the D for examples. I wouldn't recommend it for someone who, like me, is looking for more in-depth information than is contained in the manual itself. Great book to complement the user's manual By Dave in Santa Clarita Great book to complement the user's manual. I especially liked the first chapter "The D Top Ten List" which walks you through setting up the camera's most important settings, which is helpful when dealing with a brand new camera.

I also like the fact that all the example photos in the book are documented with the particular settings used to take them. Finally, each chapter has an assignments section for practicing the things discussed in that chapter, which gives you a chance to evaluate your understanding of the content.

All in all a good book to have with you, at least in the early stages of learning how to use the Nikon D which by the way, I love. Most likely the best book on the D and how to use the camera - beyond the owners manual. By Sandman Received this today and have read about half of the book. I am impressed. The book discusses the D and its features and then expands on the use of the camera. Preview — Nikon D by Rob Sylvan. Get A Copy.

Great book for beginner's This is well written and very easy to follow with simple instructions. You don't have to own a Nikon D to learn some basic knowledge of good photography. I would recommend reading the Nikon manual end to end before reading this book.
